It is with great pleasure that we recognize Elliot and Lori Linzer as our Amudei Ma’ayanot Honorees. Lori and Elliot are deeply dedicated to Jewish education, as is manifest by Lori’s professional choices, as well as by the extent of their involvement in all aspects of life at Ma’ayanot. Lori currently serves as a Vice President on our Executive Board, is a member of our Board of Trustees, and has served on Ma’ayanot’s Education Committee and Dean of Students Search Committees.
Together, in addition to being exceptionally strong financial supporters of the school, Elliot and Lori have graciously hosted numerous Ma’ayanot events, including Friday night onegs, parlor meetings, and the Ma’ayanot Book Club. In thinking about what makes Ma’ayanot special, Lori and Elliot especially appreciate the wide array of programming offered at Ma’ayanot, which has allowed their daughters to become involved in activities they never dreamed would be of interest to them, from sports to humanitarian missions, and everything in between.
Opportunities at Ma’ayanot, however, do not stop at graduation, but are available to our alumnae as well. Notably, Mairav returns to Ma’ayanot at least twice a month as a college fellow, which affords her opportunities to both teach small groups of students, as well as attend classes given for the college fellows by Ma’ayanot faculty. As the parents of one graduate and one near-graduate, the Linzers are also struck by the extent to which Ma’ayanot graduates are prepared for life after Ma’ayanot. Indeed, after recently visiting Israel schools with graduating senior Neti, Lori commented that “our girls are so well prepared, the seminaries need to open advanced tracks just for Ma’ayanot alumnae.”
Elliot is an engineer specializing in chip design, and Lori is pursuing a Masters in Bible at Bernard Revel while teaching Biblical Hebrew at Yeshiva College. Their eldest daughter Mairav (’14) is a junior at Stern College; Neti is a graduating senior; Gila (’20) is a freshman at Ma’ayanot; and Yakira (’23), a sixth grader at RYNJ, looks forward to attending Ma’ayanot soon.
We are thrilled to recognize Lori and Elliot for their unyielding loyalty and dedication to Ma’ayanot.
