COMPUTER TECHNOLOGY I

All incoming freshman are required to take a computer literacy class. The course begins with the study of the computer components and an in-depth training in Windows Operating System. The course will provides the students with a structured and comprehensive understanding of the functions and capabilities of the Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word and Excel.

COMPUTER TECHNOLOGY II: DESKTOP PUBLISHING

This course will cultivate skilled and creative use of desktop publishing technology such as Microsoft Word, Microsoft Publisher, and Adobe Photoshop Elements. The course is centered on project–based instruction that provides the student with the skills needed for planning and creating effective and ascetic documents in a real- world setting. The course is student-centered with reliance upon teacher guidance and facilitation.

The class objective includes analyzing effective design, particularly the by proximity, alignment, repetition and contrast as they relate to both print and web publications. The student will understand which software is most appropriate for different elements of design. The class will compare vector and raster images as well as evaluate resolution in images, compare file formats for different types of graphics, and evaluate the importance of client, audience, budget, and deadlines on design.

COMPUTER TECHNOLOGY III: WEBSITE DESIGN

In today’s world, the internet plays a major role in every facet of society. Every organization needs representation on the internet in the form of a Web site. This course empowers students with the skills needed to plan and create effective Web sites. We explore the core principles of good Web design and elaborate on how to develop sites that are informative, visually-appealing, and easy to navigate. We use Microsoft FrontPage, a popular Web site development software application.
