Ma’ayanot students are involved in several theatrical and musical productions throughout the course of the school year. These include:
Every year, Ma’ayanot students perform a school play, with the guidance of a talented faculty advisor. The school play also provides an opportunity for non-actors to be involved in technical elements of production, such as sound, costume design, lighting, scenery, and stage management. In past years, students have performed plays such as Our Town, Little Women and The Miracle Worker.
Ma’ayanot students produce an annual musical, such as The Sound of Music, Fiddler on the Roof, and The Music Man. The musical provides an opportunity for students to explore and express their many talents in acting, singing, and the technical and artistic aspects of production.
Started five years ago by three seniors in the Class of 2008, Heartbeats is a student-initiated, student-created, student-directed and student-performed “night of song, dance and connection” open to women of the community. Each year Heartbeats organizers choose a charity to which the proceeds of that year’s performances will be donated. We are proud to report that over the course of the past five years well over $20,000 has been donated to a variety of organizations that work to benefit women and children, including Sharsheret, Miklat, Shalva, Nechamah, and the Yad Eliezer Kol Kallah Fund.
