Languages Department

Students can elect to take a foreign language in 9th – 12th grades.  Foreign languages other than Hebrew are elective offerings and are selected based on student interest and enrollment.

All foreign language courses emphasize listening and reading comprehension, mastery of the written word, and active self-expression through the study of prose, poetry, dialogues and expository pieces. In addition, we strive to expose students to cultures associated with the languages they have chosen to study.

Tracking: Elective courses are open to all interested students; thus, tracking does not apply.

Foreign languages that have been offered in recent years include:

  • Spanish*
  • Arabic*
  • ASL (American Sign Language)*
  • French
  • Yiddish
