Internships

As part of the extended educational experience of the senior year, seniors spend the last month of 12th grade immersed in a community service/internship program. This program gives them the opportunity to give back to their communities or to explore a field of potential future endeavor in a hands-on way.

Students may choose an institution or professional field where they feel they can make a contribution or have an otherwise meaningful experience. They may find volunteer positions in hospitals, nursing homes, museums, laboratories, or law offices, for example. They may assist professionals in the health, educational, government or business fields as well. Their position is limited only by their imagination. Students will not be allowed to fill clerical positions, however, nor will they be allowed to accept payment for their services. The goal of this program is to enable students to learn about the real world, be mentored by a member of the profession or organization, and to contribute to their communities with a useful service that they can offer.
